Tingalpa isn't the kind of suburb that ends up in weekend brunch roundups. No trendy laneways, no queue out the door before it opens, no influencers hovering over your eggs. Just a good neighbourhood with people who appreciate a proper breakfast. That's exactly why we're here.
How it started
Mickle Pickle was born out of a simple idea. Brisbane has no shortage of great cafes, but finding one that's relaxed, dog-friendly, genuinely family-friendly and actually good at the food part? Harder than it sounds. We wanted to be that place.
1567 Wynnum Rd isn't exactly a glamorous address. But the people who've found us keep coming back, and that says more than any food guide.
What you'll find when you get here
The space is small, warm and a bit cheeky — which is pretty on brand for us. There's a mural on the wall with our mascots, Michael and Mr. Pickle, that gets photographed more than we expected. There's a dedicated kids space for the little ones. Dogs are welcome out front, and the regulars know to ask for a Pup-A-Cino.
The menu is focused. We don't do everything. We do breakfast and brunch, we do it well, and we'd rather be known for doing a handful of things properly than trying to be all things to everyone.
The regulars
The people who come to Mickle Pickle tend to become proper regulars. We know their orders. We know their dogs' names. On a Saturday morning the place has a particular kind of energy that's hard to describe but easy to feel — busy, loud in a good way, full of people who are genuinely happy to be there.
That's what we were going for when we opened, and it's what keeps us going.
